Guiding Mosaic 2010
   Volunteer Opportunities

Guiding Mosaic 2010 will be held July 8 - 17, 2010, at Guelph Lake Conservation Area in Southern Ontario.

GM2010 Camp Infrastructure Team

Food Services Crew Member (Food Services Delivery Team)

As Food Service Crew Member for the Food Services Delivery Team, your key responsibilities will include the following:
• Assist camp participants with meal selections at the dining marquees in a helpful and efficient manner
• Communicate any camper concerns to Food Service Coordinators
• Deliver meals to those unable to access dining marquees during food service hours ie. shift workers in the wellness centre, security
• Pack and deliver mug up items to neighbourhoods
• Take inventory, deliver and restock locations throughout camp that supply food items ie., hospital, town square


 The following positions all fall under the
 GM2010 Camp Support Team

Arrival and Departure Greeter ( 3 positions available)

As Arrival/Departure Greeter for the Camp Travel sub team , your key responsibilities will be:
• Ensure that manifests for groups arriving are complete and up to date including flight number, airline, expected arrival time.
• Communicate any major delays to the Camp Travel Lead
• Coordinate ground transportation movement to pick up zone
• Greet all groups arriving and coordinate their luggage claim and transfer to waiting ground transportation. Assist Patrol Guiders with any lost/delayed/damaged baggage issues.
• Ensure that a designated waiting area with signage is available for any participants that need to wait for ground transportation
• Ensure that ground transport is loaded and on its way to camp and contact Camp Travel Sub Team Lead that it is on the way.

 The following positions all fall under the
 GM2010 Camp Experience Team   
     

 Session Team Leaders
are needed for all area's highlighted below.

Are needed to co-ordinate, organize and supervise the following Program Teams: Adult Programs, Adventure, Arts, Community Outreach/Service, Out trips, Ranger Programs, Science/Environment, Active Living, Waterfront. Do you have talents and interests in any of these areas? Are you keen to share your knowledge, experience and talents?  Come join the Program Team today!!! 

Special Events Team Members   (8 positions available)

The curtain is about to go up?  The audience is hushed and cell phones are all turned off.  It’s your time to shine.  Do you love to perform, sing, dance and share?  How about improv or mime?  Come join the Special Events Team!!  You will be working with a team of Guiders and Girls who will present and perform, lead and laugh and certainly entertain the crowds at GM2010.

Waterfront Team Members
Dip, Dip and Swim!!!

Lifeguards, canoe instructors, kayak instructors are being sought for GM2010.  Come share your talents and skills with girl and guiders from across Canada as we celebrate 100 years of Guiding.  An exciting, active 10 day program has been developed and we are currently seeking qualified waterfront applicants.

Lifeguard:  Supervise and prevent emergencies during the campers swim times.  Must be at least 16 years old and possess a current NLS and Standard First Aid Certificate.
Lifesavers:  Assist the Lifeguards.  Must be at least 16 years old and possess a current Bronze Cross and Emergency First Aid Cerficate.
Watchers:  Watch swimmers, assist aquatic personnel and the general supervision of swimmers.  Must be at least 18 years old and be comfortable in and around the water.

The following positions fall under the 
GM2010 Camp Infrastructure Team

Camp Store Tuck Shop Team Member (10 positions available)

 The “Camp Store” will consist of the sale of a variety of fixed camp merchandise and Sundry items that will enhance the camping experience for GM2010 participants. This position works with and supports the Store and Tuck Shop Coordinators, Town Square Planning & Delivery Team Leader, Camp Infrastructure Team and Events Department (GGC) and together the team will work in a collaborative effort to ensure the delivery of camp is an efficient one. This position will be accountable to the Camp Store and/or Tuck Shop Coordinator.

 Health and Wellness Staff

As a member of the health and wellness team, you and your team will be responsible for the scheduling of the Health and Wellness team to provide 24 hour care for all participants.  You MUST have a valid St. John's First Aid Certificate or equivalent.  Extra training as a LPN, an RN, a paramedic or other allied professional is an asset but not a requirement.

Security Crew Sub Team Member:  (45 positions available, 3 shifts of 15 members)

As a member of the Security Crew for GM2010, you will work along with members of your team to ensure the efficient execution of all security services for participants at GM2010.  One of the requirements of this position is being physical fit and able to walk the site for long periods of time.

Site Services Planning & Delivery Team Member

Key responsibilities will include the following:  working with the Site Services Team, participate in camp build from June 28, 2010 through July 8, 2010 and dismantling after July 17, 2010 as required.  Work with Site Services Team to survey and grid out determined site layout for camp build and patrol set up.
